QA Receiving Technician

Summary:
The primary responsibilities of this position involve inspecting, evaluating, sampling and testing raw materials and primary packaging goods to ensure they meet design standards and Century Snacks specifications. The QA Receiving Technician follows guidelines established by Century Snacks and their respective suppliers and customers to evaluate products as part of our Supplier Quality Management Program. The QA Receiving Technician reviews protocols, qualifications, and receiving procedures documented by Century Snacks and follows those procedures. If a purchased or manufactured product does not meet quality or food safety specifications, the QA Receiving Technician investigates and reports product inconsistencies and failures back to the vendor as well as to Management.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Execute control of supplier required documentation
  • Analyze the quality of incoming raw materials and perform various tests to do so
  • Provide feedback and interpretation of all tests to Production and QA Management
  • Perform Product testing activities when called upon or instructed to do so
  • Support QA Technicians for lab analysis of raw materials, WIP (Work in Process), and finished product
  • Assist in training of production personnel in inspection procedures
  • Support implementation of and provide feedback on inspection and testing criteria or procedures
  • Identify quality problems or areas for improvement and recommend solutions
  • Cross-train to perform other QA Department functions, as required
  • Identify, analyze, recommend dispositions for Holds
  • After disposition has been determined by Management, then follow through with the execution
  • This position is critical to both Food Safety as well as raw material and finished product quality and is identified as such in both our SQF and HACCP programs
  • Other duties as may be assigned by Management

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Fluency in Spanish and English highly desirable
  • Previous Quality Control /Quality Assurance experience (preferably in food industry)
  • Previous GFSI work experience, particularly with SQF, highly desirable
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant science field desirable, but high school diploma and equivalent food industry work experience may be substituted
  • Computer skills including proficiency with MS Office software suite required, including higher level skills with Excel and ability to quickly master other software products
  • Attentiveness to detail, the ability to understand the proper specifications of a product
  • May be required to lift 35 pounds and be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in a warehouse and production environment including refrigerated areas
  • HACCP certification highly desirable
  • PCQI certification highly desirable
  • Forklift certification highly desirable
  • Critical Thinking Skills required
  • Judgement and decision-making skills required
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and remain on-task required
